Polyscias Mixed

Description:

The Polyscias Mixed (also known as Aralia) is a tropical plant genus that includes a variety of attractive species with lush, ornamental foliage. It is often used as a decorative houseplant due to its compact growth and beautiful foliage, which can range from dark green to more variegated forms with hints of white, cream, or pink. The Polyscias Mixed is known for its striking leaves, which are often deeply lobed or serrated, giving the plant a distinct and elegant appearance.

This plant thrives indoors, especially in areas where it can receive indirect sunlight, and it has become popular for its ability to adapt to different environments. Due to its diverse appearances, Polyscias Mixed refers to a collection of various varieties and cultivars within the Polyscias genus, each with slightly different leaf shapes, colors, and patterns.

Care Instructions:

  1. Light Requirements:

    • Polyscias Mixed thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some lower light conditions. However, too much direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn or fade.
    • If placed in too dark of a spot, the plant may become leggy and lose its vibrant leaf color.
    • A north or east-facing window is ideal for this plant, where it will get enough light without being exposed to harsh midday sun.
  2. Watering:

    • The Polyscias Mixed prefers moderate watering. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out before watering again.
    • Be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. It's essential to ensure the plant's pot has good drainage to prevent excess moisture from sitting at the bottom.
    • During the winter months, reduce watering as the plant's growth slows down.
  3. Soil:

    • A well-draining, fertile potting mix is best for Polyscias Mixed. You can use a regular houseplant mix or a mix designed for tropical plants. Adding perlite or sand will help improve drainage.
    • The soil should remain slightly moist, but never soggy. Ensure that water can easily pass through the bottom of the pot.
  4. Temperature:

    • This plant thrives in warm temperatures between 65°F and 75°F (18°C - 24°C). It should not be exposed to temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
    • Keep the plant away from cold drafts, air conditioners, or heaters, which could cause it to stress or stunt its growth.
  5. Humidity:

    • Polyscias Mixed enjoys moderate to high humidity levels. If your indoor air is dry, especially in the winter months, you may need to increase the humidity.
    • You can mist the leaves occasionally, place a humidifier nearby, or place the plant on a tray of pebbles filled with water to help maintain moisture levels.
  6. Fertilizing:

    • Feed your Polyscias Mixed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring through summer).
    • Reduce fertilizing in the fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.
    • Over-fertilizing can lead to leaf burn, so always follow the manufacturer's recommendations on the fertilizer label.
  7. Size :

    • Pot Size :  12 cms
    • Height : 40 cms
